Fortnite’s Fortnitemares Event Is Live With Map Changes And The Storm King

Fortnite

Epic

It’s no secret that Fortnitemares would return in 2019 as Fortnite’s go-to Halloween event, but players were wondering how it would take shape on the new map here in Chapter 2.

As it turns out, there are quite a few different ways to celebrate with new additions to the game, including yet another PvE port from Save the World.

Yes, More Zombies

Of course zombies have returned to Fortnite because Epic is going to run that concept into the ground, considering Fortnite originally started as a zombie defense game. This time, you will find zombies scattered around the map, but also in some very dedicated locations. For instance, the new Loot Lake-ish island in the middle of the map has been altered to be a home to a bunch of zombies, as it appears to be their main base of operations. So if you want to go farm some, head down there and get to work.

The Storm King

The Storm King is the new (“new”) addition to the game pulled from Save the World. He’s not showing up in normal matches (as far as I know), but is instead housed in his own LTM where you will have to work together to shoot his weak points and take him down. There are a number of Storm King-based challenges for this event, so this is definitely a mode you’re going to need to wade into.

Gun Fright

Okay this is kind of funny. This is a spin on Call of Duty’s 2v2 mode Gunfight, where Epic had a “community developer” BluDrive make a round-based 2v2 mode where you take on other teams in fast-paced gunfights. Love it.

Spooky Combine

The Combine has returned to the game (hopefully with less technical problems) and now it’s more twisted and haunted than ever in its new form. The Storm King has given it a “nightmarish feel” according to Epic, so go see what that’s all about.

Halloween Cosmetics

There are Fortnitemares bundles, skins and earned cosmetics from challenges that you can go after or purchase for this event, as naturally, the only reason any game does these kind of events is to sell things. So pick your favorite and throw down some V-Bucks. More skins should debut in the store as the event goes on.

This event runs until a week from today (11/5) so you have some time to try it all out. I’m going to scope out the island for any hidden changes, though the thing is so new I’m not even sure what it’s supposed to look like in every nook and cranny. More to come soon, but for now, just try out a little bit of everything.
