Back in November, Epic Games' Fortnite teased a crossover with the Star Wars universe. But now the crossover is truly happening, as The Rise of Skywalker is taking over the hit battle royale game.
Epic Games has debuted a number of new Star Wars items in the gift shop, including a trio of new character skins. Fans can now suit up with Rey, Finn and the Sith Trooper. They can also fly into the battlefield with a special First Order TIE Fighter glider. Additionally, there's a "Traitor!" emote, a Resistance emote, and two of Rey's digging tools.
The items can be purchased using the in-game V-Bucks currency, with a bundle that goes for around 3,500. Those should be fairly easy to unlock, and should make things rather Force-ful for fans of the game.
This is leading up to a special reveal that's set to take place in the game tomorrow. The Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams will host a special broadcast, starting at 2:00PM EDT. During that time, Abrams will premiere a new clip exclusively in Fortnite's Risky Reels theater. And those that attend the screening will get a free TIE Whisper Glider for their troubles, as detailed in the video below.
The Star Wars and Fortnite crossover will likely continue up to the premiere of The Rise of Skywalker next Friday. There's no word yet on what else could be coming, but a Kylo Ren skin would be a good idea. We also want to play as Poe Dameron, because everyone wants to be Poe Dameron.
Fortnite is available now for game consoles, PC and mobile.
